MAGIZINC®
MANUFACTURING PROCESS
MagiZinc is a cost-effective alternative to conventional hot-dip galvanised sheet. By adding small amounts of magnesium and aluminium to the zinc layer, it is possible to slash the zinc layer of the sheet by half. This means reduced usage of zinc resources, lower environmental impact, better weldability, and scratch resistance. This unique coating forms a stable barrier against corrosion, which results in superior corrosion protection, even in rough environments. MagiZinc has a surface hardness that leads to less precipitation and less friction during deep drawing and roll forming. MagiZinc is manufactured in thicknesses of 0.40 to 2.0 mm.
STEEL GRADES
Mild steel:
Used when forming and drawing properties are more important than
tensile ones. Available in grades ranging from DC01 to DC06.
Structural steel:
Used in the construction industry.
High-strength steel:
Offers great opportunities for weight savings.
Micro-alloyed:
Combines high strength and good plasticity. It has uniform tensile
properties and is intended for simpler forms of drawing and forming.

SURFACE COATING
The amount of coating on the sheet is stated in weight grades, the most common one of these being ZMA140. The figure of 140 refers to the total weight of the coating in g/m2 on both sides of the plate, e.g., in connection with a so-called triple test. (A somewhat lower weight is permissible in connection with a so-called single test.)
